Since listening to "Poetry and Prose" by Primus, I have consciously tried to use "barley pop" as much as possible in conversation. I don't know what it is I like about the word, it's just a lot more fun than beer, ale, lager, etc. Anyway, I finally got around to naming one of my brews a barley pop.

This thanksgiving ale includes pumpkin pie spice to give it that holiday feel. The final product had a nice light amber color to it. Very clear. The beer was very drinkable although I think the spice would prevent me from wanting very many at one sitting.

The name and label were inspired by Weird Al's "The Night Santa Went Crazy", a gorefest of a song where Santa loses it and goes postal at the North Pole. The tune got me thinking about what it would be like if our other holiday icons went berzerk. You know, the Easter Bunny becomes a homocidal madman or Cupid, the registered sex offender. The heavily armed turkey taking it to the pigrims seemed like the natural extension. I put the turkey together with the ammo belts and the name came to me and seemed to fit.
