The Terminal Brewhouse - Chattanooga, TN

Being off on Presidents' Day was nice. I took a nice little drive to Chattanooga to pick up the kiddos from a weekend with the in-laws. On the way, I met an old friend (old, as in we've been friends for a long time...high school) for lunch and a couple of barley pops at The Terminal Brewhouse.

I had seen the brewhouse on previous trips but had yet to have the opportunity to give it a try. As usual, I looked for an IPA to kick things off. The Magnum P.A. was a nicely balanced ale. The hops were present but not overwhelming. This would be a great session beer for hopheads, but likely would not satisy if you desire hop bomb.

The Maibock (Rock out with your bock out)was also excellent. Fresh and crisp with a wonderful malt flavor. I could certainly down a few more of these, but alas a drive back to Nashville is a few hours in my future, so we'll save some for another day.

It should be noted that they also serve food. An intriguing menu featuring locally produced and seasonal goodies. I would recommend giving the Terminal Brewhouse a try if you want fresh well crafted beers and a departure from normal pub fare.

Marietta Brewing Co. - Marietta, OH

The annual trip to southeastern Ohio for the family reunion means a trip to Rossi Pasta and this lovely little brew pub in this lovely little river city. As always, the food was tasty and fresh, however the beer selection this trip was a disappointment. The only MBC beer they had available was a raspberry wheat. While the beer was good, it was shame that other selections were not available.

Yazoo Brewing Tap Room

Stopped by the Yazoo Tap Room today to have a beer and get a growler for the Superbowl tomorrow. This is a nice place to have a beer. A bit small and always busy, you have your choices of several Yazoo offerings including regulars, Pale Ale, Dos Perros, Sly Rye Porter, Onward Stout (on nitro) and Hefeweizen. Today's special tap was a Rye Saison that according to the bartender was down to it's last gallon or so.

In addition to their fine beers, they also have some Yazoo branded goodies (hats, t-shirts, pint glasses) as well as a light menu featuring regional cheeses and breads.

Today I decided to take the brewery tour. I've been here 10-15 times, but had never taken the tour. A nice little tour of their small facility gets you up close and personal with the equipment. The tour costs $6 and comes with a Yazoo pint glass (the hefeweizen, today) and samples of the Pale Ale, Dos Perros, and the Hefeweizen. I also got a taste of Hop Project #10 which was still in the fermenter (yummy!).
